hey folks i just want to let you know i have been running Windows Vista RC1 on my 64 bit machine for a couple of days now. this is a must have OS.. save your pennies. i am sure it won't be cheep.
i have a full blown version of Windows XP PRO-64 if anyone wishes to buy it from me. never been installed or registered. i could put it on Ebay.. but figured i would offer it here first.
i did run a Windows XP PRO-64 Beta on the machine a couple of months back. i found it to be no diff than the 32 bit. it did seem faster that the reg 32 bit ver i run at work. but then it could be just the machine....(wink)... i have a 2.5Gig P4 celery at work.. and my 64 bit is a 4200x2 - 64...
Raven if your still looking for a LCD.. i just bought this one.. LCD monitor
all i can say is i love it... playing UT lastnight man what a diff from my 19in tube... no ghosting... it rocks.

for the monitor you could pay $40USD more and get the samsung 19" with 2ms! thats better than CRTs for gaming!
I got X64 pro on my "gaming" system and my work system it runs sweet, minus couple compatibility issues with some old hardware.
I am currently trying out VISTA 64bit. To see if it is safe to upgrade to it yet. I'm test for compatibility with my usualy applications. So far it's seems just like a prettier version of XP. But I've not even used it for a full hour.
I notice the 64bit VISTA is faster than the 32Bit, it even installs faster. this is on the same system same HD, same everything. I installed the 32bit first, did basic config, then format, and install the 64bit. 64 was installed in almost half the time. This was done to a spare HD i have, so my real HD still have XPx64.
I wont go vista until i fully tested it. Feel free to put a post of all applications and version that ran on vista 64bit. So we know.

yep i could have.... you ah don't have kids do ya... eh wilder? 40 US is 40 US i don't have to put towards a new one after one of my kids shove a crayon through this one.. this one is good enough for now.. lol
as for vista... hmm seems great except for the dam pop up asking if it was me who farted or coughed. this is a pain in the ass. and you can't turn it off with out turning off all protection. who got the $200,000.00 cash bonus for this idea? this would be the only thing stopping me from buying all the vista packs...
still on the fence...

I'm actually considering getting a Apple Mac for my next system upgrade for workstation. For gaming I'll stick with VISTA maybe basic with all the protection turn off. Who needs it for a gaming box that isnt turn on all day?
You should see the mac commercial about Vista, it's hilarious! stop by www.apple.com and watch the commercials about Vista's new security feature.
If you ever ever use macos x before, you'll see how much things vista has ripped off apple. They practically copied nearly all the cool things. Seems their R&D team bought a mac to get new ideas for windows. hehehe
Only thing windows is better than a mac is really just gaming stuff. You simply cant game on a mac as you can on windows.

i heard a lot of people have some grief with vista... drivers, apps, etc. a lot of older app, peripheral dont work on vista. i'm just gonna wait until i build something new using all vista certified parts. =/ i dont thik i'll bother putting vista on what i have now.
